Diocesan Projects:
Social Action-CIMPESA
CIMPESA (Ciadade de Meninos Sao Paula Apostolo), better known as Boys' Town, is an orphanage for forty boys ages 4-18. It is located in Araras-Petropolis, a lovely mountain area with cooler air, free of urban distractions.
COLONAR (Colegio Anglicano de Araras) is a public-private educational partnership which provides quality education for Boys' Town residents and the surrounding community. Sao Andre Chapel shares the school campus and provides a spiritual life for Boys' Town and its neighbors.
The Santa Teresa Project:
Transforming and Life Giving
Rio struggles with its large number of street children, whose longevity is short. Boys enter the drug world and often fail to reach their 18th birthday, Girls succumb to prostitution at an early age.
The Project will open shortly, providing 160 street children with the education they have missed and equipping them for entrance in the work force.
Medical and dental services will be provided and Bishop Celso and Luciene, licensed psycho-therapists will provide spiritual and therapeutic counseling.
Restoration and renovation of a colonial era mansion, a gift to the diocese, is a contribution to the historic Santa Teresa are of Rio de Janeiro. The facilities are a warm and welcoming respite from Rio's streets.
